Greetings from the US Pacific Northwest. My "WetGeek" nickname is because I'm a retired software engineer in a part of the world where it's been said to rain all the time.
I'm a long-time KDE Plasma user, taking a look at Neptune, and I'm quite impressed. Its appearance is very clean, and I've found no problems with Plasma here.
Something that limits my use of the system, though, is my inability to access my NAS shares using Dolphin (or any other file manager). I've installed nfs-common
, and added my shares properly to /etc/fstab
, and I'm able to mount those shares without a problem using mount -a
, as I've done with various other distros.
However, on Neptune, I can only access the contents of those shares from a terminal, when running with elevated credentials. Although listing the shares on /mnt
works in Dolphin, accessing their contents does not. I'm told I don't have permission to do that.
If I simply select Network in Dolphin, and use smb to access the NAS, I can addess the contents of the shares without a problem. So, smb works as expected, but nfs does not.
The methods I've used work well on Ultramarine, Ubuntu, and Solus, among others. Any clue to why they don't work on Neptune would be appreciated. Thanks!
