ksplashqml (ksplashqml), signal: Segmentation fault

Running Neptune 7.5, updated yesterday.

uname -a:

At login (immediately after pressing enter to confirm my password and before my desktop showed up) I got this message:

The dialogue that shows up is:

When I click "restart the application" the restart of the application fails and the error message reappears.

As far as I can see, everything works as expected.
Is this something I should report here? Or somewhere else?

That is a crash of the splashscreen animation that we have before loading the desktop. So you probably won't see the nice Neptune Logo and animation we created.
You can disable the splashscreen to get rid of the error.

The error stopped after I changed the theme (not sure if there is a correlation).
Should I report the bug somewhere, so that the developers can look into it?
BTW: the forum seems to be inundated with spam, today, I believe.

WillemH Yeah the spambots are getting more and more. As for the issue. Don't bother reporting it somewhere upstream. This KDE Plasma version is unmaintained.

Not sure if I fully understand what you are saying; am I to understand that Neptune 7.5 is using an outdated Plasma version?

WillemH It is using KDE Plasma 5.20 and we are already at 5.25. So yeah 5.20 won't get updates anymore.

leszek I didn't realize Neptune is using an EOL Plasma version. :-(

So, should I install 5.25 on Neptune 7.5? Is 7.5 tested with5.25?

WillemH There is no Plasma 5.25 for Neptune 7.5 officially as there is also no 5.25 on Debian. If you do not have any issues with other themes or having the splash disabled just leave it this way and enjoy your Plasma experience. An update will come for sure with a new Debian Base in the future.
